Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro Review

In July 2017 yesterday, Samsung brought two new smartphones, namely Samsung Galaxy J5 Pro and Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro. Still targeted mainly for the middle-class smartphone market, these two smartphones are maximized to meet today's user needs, such as better camera features, large batteries, and Ultra Data Saving features for those who want to save quotas.

One of these products, Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro, has been present at Jagat Gadget testing table this time to be tested further and certainly more deeply. As to whether the performance and permissibility of this smartphone?

When compared with previous Samsung Galaxy J7, Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro has a design and finishing metal body that will look more attractive. Parts of the bezel or frame, especially on the left and right side of the screen is now getting thinner so the screen will look more relieved because of it. The design for the corners of the device itself uses 2.5D Glass which makes the curve a more rounded corners, not sharp, but still ergonomic enough to be grasped. Overall the design, Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro has a fairly elegant impression and impressed more "luxurious" than the previous series, accompanied by the appearance of follow-up similar to other Chinese smartphone brand that tends to resemble one another.

Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro has dimensions of 152.5 x 74.8 x 8 mm with a weight of 181 grams, making the device will feel wide like a standard smartphone size of more than 5 inches in general, but quite sleek and lightweight but sturdy when used. Its own main screen size of 5.5 inch 1920 x 1080 Full HD resolution with Super AMOLED screen type and 16M color depth that will certainly make the color display becomes brighter and contrast.

On the left side of the device, is the volume key location, along with a slot for SIM1 / SIM2 as well as a separate microSD card. While the right side is the location for the power button as well as the main speakers. For the top part, it does not have any port because the port for USB 2.0, 3.5mm audio jack as well as the mic receiver are all located at the bottom of the device.

The main operating buttons are located on the bottom surface of the smartphone, where there is also a Home button that also functions as a Fingerprint sensor located. As for the upper surface, is the position where the front camera with LED flash and receiver speakers are located. For the main camera and an additional LED flash, it is on the back of the device.

Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro is armed with SoC octa-core made from Samsung itself, the Exynos 7870 1.60GHz, 3GB RAM and 32GB storage capacity that can be added up to 256GB by using an additional microSD card. Large RAM and internal storage is quite standard where it can be found in some other latest smartphone, but the actual performance by using our benchmark reference for testing the smartphone we will show more in the following pages.

The main camera for Galaxy J7 Pro uses a 13 MP resolution sensor with f / 1.7 openings and Autofocus feature, and capable of recording Full HD video resolution at 30 fps. While the front camera uses 13 MP resolution sensor as well, with aperture f / 1.9.

Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro has other features such as 4G LTE connectivity, Wi-Fi 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac 2.4 + 5GHz, Bluetooth v4.1, Wi-Fi Direct, ANT +, up to NFC features. Sensors are owned in addition to Fingerprint on this smartphone is also quite complete, has support for Gear Circle (Manager Support), Gear Fit2, S2 Gear, Gear S3, and IconX Gear. Galaxy J7 Pro itself also has been equipped with Dual Messenger feature, where users can login two accounts at once in one Messenger application.

Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro itself runs on Android OS 7.0 and a large enough battery capacity that is 3600mAh, but unfortunately without the features Fast Charging. Therefore, charging will take longer than it should.

Sales Package

Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro has a complete package of sales that are classified as standard. In the box, users will be able to find 1 unit of Galaxy J7 Pro, short guide in Indonesian and English, pin to unlock SIM / microSD card slot, adapter and microUSB charger cable. In this package we do not find any earphones or additional soft cases to be used directly against the device unit, so users need to buy them separately if you want to complete both of them.

With a front and rear camera sensor 13 megapixel resolution, Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro is expected to capture images with more leverage. For the main camera photos, Galaxy J7 Pro is able to capture images pretty well. The details provided look interesting with the photo results also do not show high noise levels to then damage the details of the photos successfully taken. The level of brightness and color produced is also quite good, even more than enough if users just take photos to be uploaded into social media platforms only. The main camera itself has several features such as Pro and Panorama mode photos. Pro mode itself will certainly be very useful when users want to take a particular object or scene in certain light conditions as well. Under backlight conditions, the camera's focus may be a little difficult when automatically capturing a particular object image, but the focus can still be moved to make the image look brighter.

As for the front camera, must be recognized that the selfie photos can also be said to be interesting. Detailed photos such as faces and hair look still can be quite detailed with the level of brightness and natural color like the original object, especially when doing photos in lighting conditions are bright enough. In light conditions slightly dark or dim, users need to stabilize the device so that the image does not blur when taken. Some features like Beauty mode and Photo filter were embedded along with the camera app, so users can also play around with the colors or filters provided along with the device.

The tests we did this time using a browsing test and a video loop test. PCMark itself is a benchmark that we will soon leave in the near future and will not be reused for subsequent tests. This is because there are several types of smartphones that often fail when the middle trial with PCMark.

Therefore, we use our new test protocol: the test of browsing. We setup the server locally to perform browsing tests on some of the smartphones used in comparison. Smartphone browsing with page turnover every 10 seconds nonstop. Just like video looping testing, the device is set using Airplane mode, Wi-Fi enabled, as well as non-automatic display brightness with center slider. The result, Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro can last for 13 hours 15 minutes.

For the next test, we are still using a test measuring how long the smartphone can last when playing 720p quality video in a looping condition using the MXPlayer app until the battery is empty. The result, Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro can last up to 13 hours 11 minutes.

Although it has a large enough battery, Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro unfortunately not equipped with the ability Fast Charging or similar to be able to recharge power faster. So from the results of measuring the length of recharging the battery, Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro takes 2 hours 33 minutes to be fully refilled again.

Galaxy J series itself often provides a variety of breakthroughs and unique features are quite "luxury" for a smartphone middle class. Series Galaxy J7 Pro has proven itself as a middle-class smartphone with specifications and performance is pretty good and almost can be called as a smartphone almost premium. Galaxy J7 Pro has a Super AMOLED screen which is sure to be the mainstay of the device, where the screen will be able to provide better color and contrast brightness, making users more comfortable when using to watch video or other multimedia. With a slightly different design but still ergonomic and berbodi sturdy, of course make Galaxy J7 Pro is becoming more luxurious and elegant, with a bezel that is not too big and make the screen look more spacious.

Completeness of the sensor and features on the Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro is also a plus, with already has 4G LTE connectivity, NFC features, Fingerprint sensor, and tray for dual SIM and a separate microSD card, not hybrid. With 3 separate trays this user can more freely to embed two SIM cards together with microSD card as additional storage simultaneously. In terms of camera itself, the catch of Galaxy J7 Pro is quite up and able to give details and brightness levels of color and contrast is also good, both from the rear camera and front camera.

Unfortunately, it should be admitted that the absence of a fast charging feature for batteries can be a constraint in itself, where large battery recharges on the device take a long time to fully recharge, ruling out a relatively high battery life compared to similar smartphones. In addition, the port charging is still a microUSB port, where some other smartphones start switching to USB Type-C, though it must be admitted that this port is still the most popular port and is still widely used for now.
