How to Deactivate Automatic Updates on the Play Store


The Google Play Store application is available for all Android devices, which has the ability to easily download all kinds of content such as applications, games, books and movies. Play Store has been updated continuously to make users feel comfortable when using it.

There are several options offered by Play Store in updating the application. That is updating automatically on all networks, or only on WiFi networks. In addition there is also an option to disable the automatic update.

By disabling automatic updates, every time there is an application that has the latest version it will not be updated automatically. And it will wait for action from the cellphone owner to update it manually.

How to Deactivate Automatic Updates on the Play Store

Apart from avoiding waste of data, this also has many positive sides. And by deactivating automatic updates, that doesn't mean that every application won't be able to be updated again, but will only prevent the automatic system from working. And cellphone owners still have the right to manually update the application on the Play Store.

Following this tutorial turn off automatic application updates on the Play Store:

  • Open the Google Play Store application.
  • Click the menu option on the top left.
  • Select Settings.
  • Tap on Application updates automatically.
  • Set as Don't update the application automatically.

That's all you need to do and after that the next automatic update will not be done again by the system. In the meantime, you will still receive notifications about the application requesting to be updated.
How Do You Disable Application Update Notifications?

Some people may feel uncomfortable about notifications that often appear about applications that request to be updated. And actually it can also be disabled easily.

The method is very easy, just open the Play Store and go to Settings> Notifications. Then don't check the Automatic Update and Update options. From now on, notifications regarding application updates will no longer appear.

Deactivating automatic updates is indeed a thing to do as a precaution for data being sucked up by itself. Meanwhile you also have to check the Play Store frequently at least 1 or 2 weeks to find out if there are applications that request updates.

Because updates to an application basically have good meaning, such as adding compatibility and also fixing previous errors. So basically, even though you have deactivated automatic updates, don't forget to manually update the application. At least do it once a week.
